The festival: Between Solemn Ceremony and Carnival

The street is the natural stage for the demonstration, and it is decorated throughout the city with the immense murals of the Ramona Parra Brigades, natural born daughters of Diégo de Rivéra and of Bronx graffiti - artists.

It is in this setting that two ways of being together rub elbows: the old union tradition, with its velvet banners embroidered with golden letters and its tinge of almost religious gravity produced by the feeling of bearing witness to an idea…

And then the improvised festival, a bit crazy, where old women join hands with children to form a giant circle and dance along the entire length of the avenue… The crowd then explodes in a huge burst of laughter that relieves the extreme accumulated tension.Then, through songs and dances, unfurls the joy of being together, so many, carried forward by the same hope …
